Welcome to Inman Square, a small, commercial and residential area located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The larger residential neighborhood of Wellington-Harrington encompasses this charming and historic neighborhood. Inman Square, much like other squares in the Greater Boston area, refers to a busy commercial intersection and a compact residential district. This neighborhood gained popularity in the early 1900s with the advent of streetcar service that ran through the center of Inman Square, bringing commercial and residential activity to the area. Just north of Central Square and east of Harvard University, Inman Square today remains a retail destination for Cambridge residents, offering a variety of shopping and restaurants.

Small but culturally diverse, this 1.8-acre neighborhood is home to a unique demographic base of families, college students, and working professionals that commute Downtown for work or to one of the nearby universities for class. Brazilian and Portuguese influence can be seen in Inman Square along the bustling commercial thoroughfare of Cambridge Street, where you will find plenty of ethnic cuisines, as well as popular American fare and numerous small shops. Despite the lack of rapid transit, Inman Square is served by multiple MBTA bus lines (69, 83, 91), with stops along Cambridge, Hampshire, and Prospect. Less than three miles from Downtown, Inman Square is a walkable neighborhood with tree-lined, bike-friendly streets and a decent selection of nightlife options, including live music venues and cocktail bars.

If you are in the mood for some live music, check out The Lilypad for intimate concerts featuring an eclectic lineup of acts that range from punk to jazz. Grab some lunch at one of the delicious restaurants along Cambridge Street before spending the afternoon at Joan Lorentz Park, an urban green space that offers playgrounds and tennis courts. One of the best things about living in Inman Square is its proximity to other popular neighborhoods in Cambridge and all of the attractions they offer. If you are looking for some laughs, head down to Central Square and spend an evening at ImprovBoston, a fun improvisational theatre that offers sketch and stand-up comedy performances.
